    Antique "OJIBWE"" Snowshoes

These rustic circa 1950's Ojibwe snowshoes were found  in the Laurentians, Quebec and are in amazing  condition for their age.  "Natural" webbing for deep snow & wide open spaces.  The pointed tips cut through snow & are mainly used for rolling terrain and brush.  The tail acts to provide a forward "kick" motion, lessening fatigue.  A beautiful pair of  snowshoes for your chalet wall decoration.

The name Ojibwe comes from one of the largest of the Native peoples of Canada that settled along the Great Lakes in Ontario, in western Canada and north-central United States. This highly aesthetic snowshoe is one of the oldest of traditional wooden snowshoes. Curiously, it resembles those used by the ancient peoples of Siberia, Greenland and Scandinavia many centuries ago.
