This is an original vintage ice axe made by the Felix Ralling Hammerwerk in the village of Fulpmes in the Stubai valley in south Tyrol, Austria. The axe is in very good condition and the shaft is free of cracks, dents, or splinters. It features an adjustable leather cover for the adze and pick. A metal ring around the wooden shaft with a cotton wrist leash attached. It shows great patina on iron and wood & ready to decorate your mountain chalet with.
The village of Fulpmes is considered to be the centre for iron industry in the Stubai Valley and therefore also referred to as the "Village of Smithy" which is also shown by the anvil on the emblem of the village.
