This is an original vintage "Himalya Pickel - Modell Kuno Rainer" ice axe made by the Felix Ralling Hammerwerk in the village of Fulpmes in the Stubai valley in South Tyrol, Austria. The axe is in very good condition & it features adjustable leather covers for the adze & pick. A metal ring around the wooden shaft with a cotton wrist leash attached. The shaft is free of cracks, dents, or splinters.

For some history, Kuno Rainer was an Austrian Mountain Guide who was involved in the first expedition to climb Nanga Parbat in the Himalaya.The village of Fulpmes is considered to be the centre for iron industry in the Stubai Valley and therefore also referred to as the "Village of Smithy" which is also shown by the anvil on the emblem of the village.
