Antique skis are popular with collectors, particularly with skiing enthusiasts. Throughout history, skis have been used for both practical and recreational purposes. Our finely restored and non restored collection mostly originates from the snowy climates of Switzerland, Germany and France. These are another really fine pair of vintage 1950's children skis & bamboo poles. The top of the skis have been restored and look very clean. They are equipped with  "Tornado" bindings. These are a rare pair of 1930's (non restored) vintage German "Elch" skis. The wood is in great shape and the leather of the toe binding has been replaced but the heal part is no longer in existence. All in all a fine looking pair of skis to hang up on any wall.
We found these increasingly hard to find 1920's children skis & hickory poles in the Laurentians, Quebec, Canada. the skis and hickory poles have been completly restored with new "period like" leather boot straps which go through the base of the skis. These stave skis are fashioned from an old oak Swiss wine barrel. Pieces of rubber and short wood slats are used as a binding. The bases were smoothed down and you can still see and feel some of the old wax which remains. Skiing on barrel staves goes back to the 1800's and still today, competitions are organized in Switzerland and throughout the world.
