Antique Child "GROS LOUIS" Huron Snowshoes
These 1960's vintage Canadian Child "Huron" style snowshoes are in excellent condition & were manufactured by Gros-Louis, maker of snowshoes since 1959 in the Huron-Wendat nation, Quebec. The rawhide webbing is intact, and the leather bindings are in very good condition & complete. An ideal decorative piece which would look terrific on your chalet or country lodge wall.
The Huron traditional wood snowshoe is great for hunting, trapping, and long hikes in open forests and fields. Very quiet and easy to maneuver, its design provides great flotation in soft snow and its streamlined tail helps maintain a straight trajectory. The Huron snowshoe is the best-known snowshoe whose origins can be traced back to the Huron people of Canada. It is It was the model preferred by the first French settlers that came to New France in 1604, and by French-Canadian woodsman and trappers during their winter travels.
