Vintage French Snowshoes
This is a pair of 1940s antique snowshoes. The bear claw shaped wood frame has rope webbing and cotton rope bindings. This pair are most likely the earliest model of “Hiverna” snowshoes manufactured in Saint-André-Le-Gaz, France and were also used by the French Alpine troops. The cotton rope bindings were later replaced with canvas straps. They are in very good condition for their age and a very rare find indeed.
