Antique Swiss "P. Schild" Kandersteg Ice Axe
This is a very rustic & clean looking 1940's ice axe made by P. Schild in Kandersteg, Bernese Oberland Switzerland. It is in very good condition after being cleaned & polished with some normal usage wear (no cracks). The name "P. SCHILD" & KANDERSTEG is engraved on one side of the head. This antique ice axe is a little piece of Switzerland and the history of it's mountains. It would be a great display item in your home or chalet.
The forge was founded in 1906 by Peter Schild, his son Peter Schild jun. made himself a name as excellent ice axe smith. The original Schild & Sohn forge is now a historical monument & can be visited in Kandersteg.
