This very nice ice axe was sold by Th. Björnstad & Cie. in Bern in the 1920's to one of their clients "A. Buser".  It was most likely made by the Andenmatten brothers in Saas-Almagel, Wallis. The axe is in great condition with no rust & shows normal signs of wear. Th. Björnstad & Cie was a prominent sports shop specializing in winter sports equipment and manufactured their own ski bindings, "B.B.B." (Björnstad - Bindung - Bern) which were very similar to the Beetschen binding. He later opened other shops in Grindelwald & Zermatt. A very rare & historical ice axe which would look just great displayed in your home or mountain lodge.

These size 38, 10 point vintage crampons were manufactured in the late 60's in the Stubai valley, Austria. This pair of vintage climbing crampons are in surprisingly good condition for their age and most probably only worn a few times.

This is an original "NOS" vintage "Himalya - Kuno Rainer" ice axe made by the Felix Ralling Hammerwerk in the village of Fulpmes in the Stubai valley in South Tyrol, Austria. It is stamped with CCB on one side for C. Christen, Bern, the sport shop where it was sold to some person who never got to use it. A few signs of storage but otherwise brand new!

This is a very clean ice axe from “Fritsch & Co" in Zurich which is engraved on one side of the head. The metal has been cleaned/polished and besides minor signs of wear, the wood shaft is in very good condition. The cotton leash is also in excellent condition. SPORTHAUS FRITSCH & CO. was a very popular sports shop for outdoor enthusiasts and was located on the famous Bahnhofstr. in Zurich. They manufactured and sold all types of sports equipment  from 1903 until 1993. This ice axe would make a very nice decoration in your home or chalet!

This is an increasingly scarce & well-preserved World War II rucksack (Tornister), made in Switzerland for the Swiss infantry troops up in the mountains. Backpack was made by saddler A. Oreiller (Sellier) of Bagnes in 1944 (all stamped on the leather). KMV "Privat" stamp on the inside of the main compartment, indicating that this backpack was released from military service for private ownership. This beautiful, used rucksack is in unbelievable condition for its age. Every part is original and intact, with only some very minor signs of wear that only add authenticity and character to the bag. There are no tears, rips, or loose stitching.

A good 1920’s Geb Andenmatten (Andenmatten Brothers) “Mischabel ice axe, the handle is made from ash wood with normal signs of use and the metal pick and adze have been cleaned. This is a fine quality ice axe made in Switzerland, the head being stamped with “GEB. ANDENMATTEN, SCHWEIZ, SAAS ALMAGEL” on one side and “MARKE MISCHABEL” with an outline of a mountain range on the other. The sliding eyelet for the leash is no longer present & on the lower part of the shaft, 2 nail holes are visible where the leash stop was once secured. This tool has served its original purpose. It now shows wear expected from use.  The spike is slightly loose with a bit of play as it lacks the fastening stud but it will nevertheless look very nice hanging on the wall of your home, lodge or chalet!

This extra long (100 cm) & rare ice axe is in excellent shape! It has been cleaned and there are no nicks on the wood which has a great patina. The only markings on the adze are "E.M." Due to it's length it is shipped as "Cumbersome". A beautiful piece to display in your home or lodge!

This very scarce antique ice axe was manufactured  by "Andenmatten" in Siders (French = Sierre) in the Valais. The family name "Andenmatten" is very well known as forgers in Saas Almegel, Valais, Switzerland. No doubt the maker of this ice axe was related to this family & moved down the valley to ply his trade but still named his axes "Allalin" which is a mountain peak & glacier (4027m) above Saas Fee. The first to climb it was also named Andenmatten (Franz) who reached the summit in August 1856. This rare ice axe features an adjustable leather hand leash (instead of the regular canvas strap) and the leash stopper is made out of brass. The wood shaft shows minor signs of wear & the metal parts have been cleaned, polished and ready to decorate your home or chalet with.

Here you have it all in one! A beautiful mountaineering Swiss display consisting of a vintage rucksack with ice axe, rope, crampons & glacier goggles - all from the 1940's/50's with a lot of history! The rucksack originates from "Sport Körner" in the town of Altdorf in the Canton of Uri (Altdorf is also where the legendary Wilhelm Tell shot the apple off his son’s head!). It is in great shape with no tears & all the leather straps intact. The 1940's  ice axe is also in excellent clean condition with no rust or cracks & only a few very minor dents & measures 80 cm in length & the head is 30 cm. It is a fine quality ice axe made in Switzerland, the head being stamped with “Gebr. This rare & very clean ice axe was made by the renown blacksmith Fritz Jörg in the small hamlet of Zweilütschinen in the Interlaken-Oberhasli district. One side of the head is inscribed with “F. JORG ZWEILUTSCHINEN BERNER OBERLAND”. It has a wonderful patina that only comes with age.  It features its original wrist leash, solid wooden shaft, curved adze and a traditional shaped spike.  A wonderful old wooden ice axe from the heart of the Swiss Alps to add that extra decoration touch to your home or mountain lodge.

All in all, a great display item. When you hold a Bhend ice axe in your hands, you hold a piece of climbing history!

Besides 1 piton from Stubai, Italy this beautiful mountaineering rucksack and vintage climbing gear is 100% made in Switzerland. The display consists of a vintage rucksack with an ice axe, climbing rope, crampons, pitons, field flask, glacier goggles, flashlight and map - all from the 1940's/50's. The 1950's rucksack is from "Kost Sport" in Basel who closed shop after almost 150 years in business. It is in very good condition for its age with no tears and all the leather straps are intact. The 1940's "Christen” ice axe shows signs of normal wear but in good condition with a few very minor bits of surface rust but no cracks on the shaft & measures 90 cm in length & the head is 29 cm...

This vintage ice axe was manufactured by the Gebr. Willisch (Willisch brothers) in Täsch/Zermatt, Valais, Switzerland for the Albert Lutz Sportartikelfabrik AG in Teufen Appenzell, Switzerland. The ice axe is clean/polished & in very good condition. Besides a few knicks, the shaft is free of cracks or splinters. Willisch is a name that all the great mountaineers would regognize very well and had some very famous customers including Mallory, Irvine and Chris Bonnington. Three generations of men from the family Willisch have been handcrafting ice axes since 1900.

This is a very rustic & clean looking 1940's ice axe made by P. Schild in Kandersteg, Bernese Oberland Switzerland. It is in very good condition after being cleaned & polished with some normal usage wear (no cracks).  The name "P.  SCHILD" & KANDERSTEG is engraved on one side of the head. This antique ice axe is a little piece of Switzerland and the history of it's mountains. It would be a great display item in your home or chalet.

The forge was founded in 1906 by Peter Schild, his son Peter Schild jun. made himself a name as excellent ice axe smith. The original Schild & Sohn forge is now a historical monument & can be visited in Kandersteg.

This very scarce antique Stubai ice axe was manufactured by Adolf Attenhofer who was better known for his skis and the "ALPINA" ski bindings which were the least expensive and thus the most common bindings on the market during the 1920's. The ice axe is in very good condition and the metal has been cleaned up & polished with no rust. Engraved on one side is "ATTENHOFER ZURICH" and "STUBAI" on the other side. The wooden shaft with a the original leather hand strap is also clean with no dents or cracks. The previous Swiss owner actually climbed the Matterhorn with it! Adolf Attenhofer won the Swiss Ski Championships in 1917 while working developing skis at Ettinger Skis. This a very rare collectible Ice Axe for the antique collector or for displaying in your home or ski lodge.

A very clean & complete pair of 12 point, wrought iron crampons in the design of their inventor Oscar Eckenstein (1859 -1921). They are in great condition (metal & leather!). Eckenstein was a passionate climber and innovator. He developed theses crampons in 1908 and two years later, with the help of Henry Grivel of Courmayeur on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc, they became commercially available. Each crampon is stamped "Brevetto, Grivel, Courmayeur, Made in Italy" 38D.

This pair of 1930's antique ski goggles were worn by the Swiss "Gebirgsjager" (Military Mountain Troops). The extreme dark green lenses shielded their eyes from the glare of the sun reflecting off the bright white glaciers. They come with an aluminium storage box. Ski with them, wear them at a ski party, hang them up or do it all!

This is a very rustic looking 1940's ice axe made by L. Lambrigger in Mörel located in the Wallis, Switzerland. It has been cleaned and besides a few worm holes it is exceptionally good looking with “L. Lambrigger, Mörel, Wallis engraved on one side of the head which is attached with copper studs.

This antique short handle ice axe was manufactured in Chamonix, France by the famous "Simond Brothers". The handle is in fair shape and shows signs of being well used. The metal adze is in good shape with "A. Simond & Frères, A Chamonix" with a flower and a barely visible Chamois engraved. This specific model was mainly used to make steps in the ice.

This vintage ice axe was manufactured in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France by "CLAUDIUS SIMOND" which is engraved on the metal head along with "CHAMONIX-MONT BLANC & "Simond Spécial D" along with the Simond logo of a mountain goat head. It has been cleaned, polished & considering it's age, it is in excellent condition. This would be a great item to enhance your ski chalet decor or a fine gift for a mountain enthusiast.

This restored antique short handle ice axe was manufactured in Switzerland. The handle is in very good shape without any splinters and the metal head is very clean with the initials "RV" engraved on it. This specific model was mainly used to make steps/toe holds in the ice.
