Antique skis are popular with collectors, particularly with skiing enthusiasts. Throughout history, skis have been used for both practical and recreational purposes. Our finely restored and non restored collection mostly originates from the snowy climates of Switzerland, Germany and France. These are really an adorable & increasingly hard to find pair of vintage 1940's children skis & poles. They originate from "SPORT ARTIKEL VEB OBERROD", Oberrod being in a community in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-PalatinateGermany.  The VEB stands for “Volkseigener Betrieb” (Publicly owned company). The bindings have been cleaned of heavy rust and the toe straps replaced. The 82 cm hickory ski poles are complete with leather hand straps and basket webbing on the double rattan rings. They are in excellent condition and will no doubt enhance your decor at your chalet/home children’s bedroom or any other room for that matter.

Here is another pair of very old handmade skis which we discovered in the Canton of Grison in Switzerland. They are completely restored and the leather toe straps have been replaced -  the heel straps were also updated at some point in time. The 104 cm bamboo poles hand straps and rattan baskets have been replaced with newer looking ones. What really makes these antique skis very unique, is that the bindings were cast in brass which we have never seen before! This pair of very rustic homestead skis were mainly used for getting around the hilly farm land or for a quick supply trip down to the local village market. This combined set would look just great decorating the walls of your lodge, chalet or home.

These are a rare pair of vintage 1950's skis made by "PGH GESCHWENDA" in Thüringer Wald, Germany. "SCHICHTEN" meaning layered wood were a breakthrough in strengthening wooden skis. They were manufactured without metal edges and equiped with "TORNADO" bindings. The 115 cm metal poles are in good condition with plastic hand grips/leather hand straps and alu/plastic baskets. These vintage pair of skis will without doubt, add some colour to your chalet.

These fine antique and very scarce children skis were made by the "Gebrüder Hammer" (Hammer brothers) in Bad Mergentheim, Germany in the late 1930's -early 1940's. This specific model is called "JUGEND" (Youth). They are in fine shape and the logo is clearly visible. The 75 cm bamboo poles are in very good condition with their original hand straps and baskets - all intact and complete. The Hammer brothers started manufacturing skis in 1910 and in 1945 their brand became Erbacher Skis.

These are an extremely rare pair of 1920's (restored) children "Nipple tip" skis & bamboo poles. Back in the 20's, the hand forged toe bindings were installed through the skis. The leather toe straps disintegrated a long time ago & have been replaced with similar heavy duty ones. The poles are from the 1940's and their leather grips and the leather webbing on the baskets are original and in very  good condition with all the stitching intact.

These unrestored 1930's rustic skis and are in very good condition. Without edges they feature a red painted base, "Schuck" German bindings with complete leather straps. The metal binding parts are rusty and part of one nipple is broken off but still a very fine pair to decorate your chalet or home with.

These are a very beautiful & increasingly hard to find 1950's pair of restored vintage children skis. They are equiped with "KANDAHAR" bindings which are also restored and the toe straps have been replaced with new period type replicas. The poles are 94cm in length with 12 cm diameter aluminium baskets. The rare "bulb" tops of the poles have been retouched but the metal tips are rusty. The leather hand straps are original and the leather webbing on the baskets are all intact. Truly a nice & clean looking combination to enhance your home decor!

These are a rare pair of historical Canadian ca. 1930's skis (fully restored) from Peterborough, Ont. Canada. As they show evidence of forged toe bindings which went through the ski bases, they were most likely made in the late 1920’s early 1930’s. The bindings were later upgraded to a patented model developed by Thorleif Haug of Norway and best known for his 3 ski victories at the inaugural 1924 winter Olympics at Chamonix, France.

These 205 cm skis have been completely restored with great care and attention to the smallest details (new copper rivets for attaching the leather binding straps on two pieces). The bamboo poles with double rattan basket rings are in superb condition! 135 cm in length and all metal parts have been cleaned and polished.

These vintage Bobbie Burns "The Ski" skis are what I consider “a must” for the serious ski collector & they are in very good condition. As I skied on these in the late 70’s, they were the second pair of “The Ski” which I performed on & were part of my personal collection. The top plate & graphics have some minor scratches but are basically in great shape. Some areas of the edges show rust as well as one dent. Beautifully restored, these complete 1930's vintage Swiss Staub "ALPINA" skis are an exceedingly rare find. The restored bindings were manufactured by Attenhofer and are the very famous "Alpina" model. The toe straps are the original ones & the heel straps are in excellent condition with brass rivets. Richard Staub started making skis in the early 1900's in Wetzikon (Zurich) and sold over 2800 pairs of skis and other "Staub" mountain sport articles to 38 sport shops. Besides the "ALPINA" model, other models included "ELITE", "TODI" & “SPECIAL”.  

The poles are 125 cm in length and feature leather hand grips/straps in great condition. These are rarely seen fitted on wooden ski poles of this age. The double rattan baskets have been replaced with newer ones.

These old skis "Nipple" skis were made by RITTLER in Kempten, Allgäu, Germany and they no doubt, went down many mountains. The "Allgäu" bindings which show some rust were also manufactured in the same region and were modified by the previous owner at the time with the heel strap going through the skis as well as adding an extra over the boot straps from the heel springs. The steel edges were most likely added later to the skis by a sport shop and a few pieces are missing on the base. These rustic skis show a lot of history and would look great hanging on the wall of your ski chalet or lodge!

These homemade vintage skis are from the Haute Savoie in France. In the early 1900's skis like these were mainly used for transportaion purposes. Even though the ski down to the village market was a lot of fun, the climb back up was not. A great pair of skis for the serious collector or to enhance your home or chalet.

These very rare antique skis were made by "H. STAUB & CIE" sporting goods manufacturers in Zurich for the famous sports equipment store "Berger - Stalder" in Bern. They are in excellent condition and probably only used a few times. The bamboo poles show more signs of use but are complete with the leather hand straps and basket webbings intact. They measure 114 cm in length with Ø16 cm single rattan basket rings. The skis were most likely manufactured for the Swiss military Alpine Troops (Swiss military cross and serial number on bindings) and the surplus sold to Berger-Stalder.

The Tödi, is a mountain massif and with the mountain peak Piz Russein the highest mountain in the Glarus Alps and the highest summit in the canton of Glarus

These are a beautiful pair of 1940's Swiss Hickory skis & hard wood poles which are complete and in very good condition. The skis are equiped with the hardware to mount climbing skins. The wood has a burgundy hue &  were not restored as their worn state shows so much history of being used in the Swiss Alps. The bindings are Attenhofer "Alpina" and still have their original leather toe straps. The 121 cm poles have leather hand stitched straps & the shafts are extreemly rare as they are hexagon in shape - we've never seen anything like these before! The single rattan pole baskets are reinforced with aluminium rings and are complete with their intact leather webbing. These are great example of early Swiss made skis/poles and would make a great wall hanger in your ski chalet or home!

Here you have an increasingly hard to find pair of 1950's (restored) "HÖHNBERG" children skis (with "TORNADO" bindings) & bamboo poles. They have been carefully restored to the smallest detail. The leather pole grips and webbing on the baskets are original and in great shape. The 110 cm bamboo poles look almost new with hardly any signs of wear on the hand grips. Part of the tail on one ski has been chipped off, but nothing major. These unrestored 1930's rustic Swiss skis are in very good original condition and were made by G. (Gottfried) Beetschen in the ski resort of Lenk in the Bernese Oberland. The bindings are "Attenhofer Alpina" which were a very popular binding worldwide made by Guido Reuge & Cie in Sainte Croix, Jura and then part of Attenhofer in the late 1930's. The skis patina are very nice and it looks like the skis were last used in the 40's or 50's as the bases are still covered with Toko's legendary Nr. 3 silver wax. The bamboo poles are in fantastic condition meassuring 115 cm in length with 17 cm diameter aluminium baskets. Both leather hand grips, straps and leather basket lacings are intact. A very rare & fine pair of skis/poles combination to decorate your chalet or home with.

These 1943 "JACOBER" military skis are a very rare find. They are in very good condition and feature "ATTENHOFER - KANDAHAR" bindings and "JACOBER - HELVETIA" toe bindings with new leather straps.  The serial number, year of manufacture and Swiss military emblem are stamped on the skis. The base was renewed with red paint and the "JACOBER" logo is still partially visible on the tips. The top part of the edges is plastic and the rest are "ATTENHOFER - RUDI" metal edges. The bamboo poles are in very good condition with new rattan rings/leather webbing and the leather hand grips are intact. The hardware for attaching climbing skins is also mounted on the base of the skis. This a very rare & collectible pair of skis for the ski collector &/or for a beautiful display in your home or ski lodge.

These 1940's skis are in good used condition and the Attenhofer "Alpina-Cadet" bindings are complete with their original leather straps.  Frey started making skis from 1940 until 1960 in the town of Reinach, Aargau, Switzerland. Some surface of the skis shows signs of woodworm. Either hang them up on the wall as they are or make them your next  DIY restoration project.

These are a brand new and very scarce pair of 1960's  vintage Erba "Limex ET 17" skis. Besides some rust on the edges they are immaculate.The ERBA Ski & Holzwarrenfabrik started making skis in 1936 in the town of Erlenbach, Switzerland.

These 1940's Swiss skis with Kandahar bindings were put to good use in their day and were probably used as working/transport skis. One tip suffered a crack and was then reinforced with an alu ski tip which the previous owner decided to keep attached to the tip rather than repair it. It was quite common for wooden ski tips to break, and serious skiers always had an emergency tip in their rucksack. The bindings are complete with the original leather toe straps and the 1950's alu poles are in decent shape & complete besides the stitching on one hand grip which has come apart. The edges are rusty, and two edge pieces have loosened from the base. These vintage skis were obviously put to good use through some rough ski terrain. The wear & tear on these tells you a lot about their history.

Early 1980’s Authentic Swiss military issue skis (L: 180 cm) with Fritschi FT88 touring bindings. These stave skis are fashioned from an old oak Swiss wine barrel. Pieces of rubber and short wood slats are used as a binding. The bases were smoothed down and you can still see and feel some of the old wax which remains. Skiing on barrel staves goes back to the 1800's and still today, competitions are organized in Switzerland and throughout the world.

Are these the original 'Fat Boy' Skis? Actually, these Swiss skis were mainly used for skiing over glaciers and hunting (hence the extra width). They date from the 1920-30's  & were most likely made by a carpenter in Arosa, Graubunden. These vintage skis are unrestored but in excellent shape and equipped with Attenhofer "Alpina" bindings.

These Authier "Vampire" skis are very rare indeed. They are equipped with Attenhofer Alpina "Flex" bindings and both skis and bindings are in amazing shape. The edges are also made by Attenhofer ("Alpina" model). They were bought at Affentranger Sport shop in Lucerne in the early 1950's. The edges show very minor signs of rust and the bases are equipped with "rail ties" for climbing skins.

This pair of 1950's Homag children skis were manufactured by the "Holz Murgenthal AG" company in the canton of Aargau.  They are well used but complete with rare "Alta" bindings. Still attached is a Swiss CFF/SBB shipping sticker for transport from Basel to St. Imier. These are a rare collectible pair of true vintage Swiss skis.

Made by Adolf Attenhofer who won the Swiss Championships in 1917 while working developing skis at Ettinger Skis. The bindings on these 1930's rustic "Ridge Top" skis  have been restored and one binding had the leather straps replaced at some point in time. The wood is in great condition for it's age and has developed a beautiful patina over the years. As many wooden skis of the early years, one ski got "cracked" and was repaired with a piece of sheet metal. Back in the days, these repairs were sometimes done by the local cobbler. The tails of the skis feature a "spoiler or lip"  raise in the wood which is very unique as we rarely see this type of woodwork on vintage skis. The hickory poles still have their original hand straps but the baskets were replaced. These antique skis and poles will look just great on the wall or over the fireplace in you home or chalet!

This pair is what some ski historians call "A Childs First Ski Set" They are a fine pair of 1950's vintage children skis and poles made by Helmut Richter, a shop in Steinigtwolmsdorf, Germany specializing in wooden and sport articles. Besides a fine coat of wax on the bases they look brand new and were probably only used once. Just imagine how they would look decorating your childs bedroom!

These are a brand new and very scarce pair of early 1960's  vintage Sohler "Hickory" skis. Besides some minor surface rust on the edges they are immaculate. The Hubert Sohler Machine & Ski Company was founded in 1945 and their skis were world famous in the 1950's-60's while winning Ski World championships, FIS races and breaking the World speed ski record with 172.744 kph by Ludwig Leitner in 1965. Beautifully crafted with a sleek design, these Canadian "Bluenose" skis are truly a work of art. Restored to a fine finish with complete binding straps. The skis were previously mounted on a wall and for this reason there are discreet holes through the rubber binding plates. This pair will look great wherever you decide to show them off!

These classic 1940's skis were made by Harvey E. Dodds Limited of Montreal, Canada, also known as "The Ski People". They are restored and look brand new. Equipped  with "Chalet" brand bindings, this great looking pair of vintage skis would be great for collecting or decorating.

These are a scarce pair of 1950's Hickory (unrestored) vintage ROSSIGNOL DERBY skis equipped with Silvretta "Combi" & "Elastik" (toe) bindings. This pair of antique skis have metal edges and a P-Tex base. They are in good condition with a bit of rust on the binding cables and a bit of flaking on the top near the "Derby" logo. The previous proud owner gave them a protection coat of varnish at some point in time. The spring equiped "Elastik" toe bindings are very rare and we have never come across these in the past.

This pair of beautifully restored antique A. Ettinger "EDELWEISS" skis are equipped with  Attenhofer "Alpina" bindings.  They are clean, complete & besides a very small hole on one of the tails, they are flawless. The leather binding straps are attached with rarely seen brass rivets.

Equipped with complete "NEVE" bindings, these early 1930's vintage Rossignol skis are extremely rare and a highly collectible item. They are 225 cm in length and branded with the name Rossignol (partly) & Voiron, the location where Abel Rossignol set up his first ski manufacturing shop in Isère, France. Overall, they are in very good condition for their age. A surface crack is visible on the underside of the tip but not on the top side.
